Abstract

This thesis entitled“Economic Impacts of Foreign Employment andUtilizationof Remittance inHousehold Level in Dhunibesi Municipality, Dhading”has beencarried out.The prime purpose ofthe research is to identify the consumption patterns and use of remittance in recipient households.This is a descriptive as well as analytical type of research design. Field survey is conducted togenerate data on consumption patterns of remittance in the study area. Primary data is collected byquestionnaire method whereas secondary data is used when it is needed.Remittances are a veryimportant factor for the economic development of developing countries. Nepal is a huge laborsurplus country and is an important supplier of migrant workers to those countries which aresuffering from labor shortages or can afford to hire cheap labor. A large number of Nepalesemigrant workers are going to almost all countries of the world, especially to gulf countries. There is no doubt remittance has played vital role to change socio-economic condition, livingstandard, poverty reduction of the people and nation as a whole.But, due to lack of knowledge,sufficient capital, positive attitude, effective plan and policy and encouragement to use ofremittance on productive sector, most of the part of remittance is used on unproductive sectorswhich could be diverted to solve theexisting problems of unemployment and poverty. Similarly,people are unaware about MPAs. They are compelled to take credit from landlords and merchantsin local level. Remittance has been a burning issue of Nepalese economy. Its contribution on GDP is 28.2 percentin 2013/14. But there are many problems in the process of foreign employment and gettingremittances. The government should make effective plan and policy to establish variousemployment opportunities by developing industrial sectors to control the human resource to go forforeign employment. It is concluded that if we really want to make prosperous economy of Nepal,awareness program and skill oriented training should be launched the flow of remittance onunproductive sectors should be divertedto the creative and productive field as well as it is neededto assist the people financially in an easy and cheap way.
