Abstract: The study aims to explore the impact of remittance on social and economic status at households. The general objective of this study is to examine the socio-economic impact in the study area. However, the specific objectives of the study are to describe the socio-economic impact of remittance and its application in the study area.For this purpose, one hundred and eight family members having migrant family member (at least one) were selected in Thaha Municipality of Makawanpur District, Nepal. Descriptive research designwas carried out to analyze the impact of remittance. The information was collected via interview,primary and secondary sources. The collected data has been analyzed through simple statistical tools. The impact of remittances on both economic and social status of the sampled households is remarkable. The perceived status of the household in the post migration period is better than that in the pre-migration period. The study has found that the living standard of remittance recipients’ households is more comfortable than those of non-recipients. The people are found to have spent their increased income on productive sectors like education, business, trade, cooperatives, banks, improvement of their health status etc. The study has found that remittance has increased their household economic as well as social indicators after returning from foreign employment. The living standard of the people has risen up with significant improvement in different aspects of life such as socio-economy, education, health, communication etc
