Abstract: The novel The Third Eye, is about culturaland gender traumaand its consequent behavior and manners of characters in the novel. The thesis emphasizes the traumatic experience of all characters and gender traumatic feeling of women. Trauma is the situation in which the suffered people want to adopt the new life style but they cannot do so because it takes them to the past. Thus, the novel focuses on the characters who are suffering from the traumatic situations. The main purpose of the research is to find traumatic situation in The Third Eye which is about a family, across three generations. It tells the story of Tara’s family who believe in a traditional business, Tara always have the feeling of fear and past. The older members of the family like to follow traditional manner while new generation likes to adopt new ones. Therefore, instead of branching out, the brothers remain apprenticed to the struggling shop, female characters, on the other hand, have to fight against patriarchal society. They are not allowed to do anything against the willingness of the male characters in the novel. They do not like to live with the family helping the Tara's identity but she cannot. Thus, she decides to cope up with the male character's business.
