Abstract: Pinjardepicts violence done upon womenat the time of the Partition of India in 1947.Duringthe time ofPartition, women were doubly victimized; they became victims of both the riots and thepatriarchy.Though independence freed India, the partition that accosted it made women vulnerable. They were used for masculine power and were just turned into mere objects. The filmPinjarimpli- cates the patriarchy to the gendered violence perpetrated through the life of its protagonist, Puro-turned-Hamida.
