Abstract: | This thesis "Defiance of Patriarchy in Amy Tan'sThe Kitchen God's Wife" studies the novel from feminist perspective. The thesis alsotouches upon how both Japanese imperialism and Chinese patriarchy are inimical to the freedom and expression of the femaleprotagonist and therefore female gender in general. The political expansionist policy of imperialism includes control and domination of another land, as the masculinistideology of patriarchy also dominates the life and personality of female. |
