Abstract: The research study entitled "Adjectival Morphology in Doteli andEnglish"has been carried out to findout the morphology of adjectives inDoteli and also to compare and contrast the adjectives in Doteli withthose in English in terms of prefixes and suffixes. This research is basedon the responses given by 120 native speakers of Doteli including literateand illiterate between the age group of 16-70 from Ajayameru andSamaijee VDCs of Dadeldhura District. I selected the startified randomsampling procedure to sample the population. The structured interviewand structured questionnaire were used as research tools for datacollection from illiterate and literate respondents respectively. Onthebasis of the collecteddata, the analysis has been made. After analysis, itwas found that Doteli has more numbersof adjectival affixes incomparison to English and they are more complex than those of English.English single affix (suffix) is realizedvariously in Doteli. Both Doteliand English have more or less similar affixation systems. Doteli does notdeal with irregular forms of comparative and superlative where as Englishdeals with both regular and irregular forms comparative and superlative. Thethesishas been divided into four chapters. Chapter one deals withintroduction part of the study which consists of general background withseveral sub-topics, namely, languages in Nepal, the importance of theEnglish language, dialect, the Doteli dialect, contrastive analysis,adjective, morphology, adjectival morphology and word formationprocess in English with several sub-headings. In the same way, review ofthe related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the studyare also included under introduction part of the study. Chapter two dealswith the methodology which includes sources of data collection, samplingprocedure, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three deals with theanalysis andinterpretation of the data with appropriate references. Chapter four dealswith findings and recommendations. On the basis of findings, somerecommendations have been made for pedagogical implications. At theend, it includes references and appendices.
