Abstract: The present study entitledā€œInterlingual Errors commited by Tharu Learners of English"aims to find out the interlingual errors committed bytheTharulearners of English in grade ten and the pedagogical implications. Inorder to carry out this study four secondary level public schools werepurposively selected from theKapilvastu district, only eighty Tharu studentsofgrade ten, twenty from each of the selected schools were chosenthroughjudgemenal sampling procedure. The main toolof the research wasthewrittentest. It consisted of three different types-transformation, translation and freecomposition. The responses of the students were counted and data wereanalyzed to find out the errors.The major finding was that the Tharu studentsare highly influenced by their mother tongue while learning English as asecond language. The study is divided into four main chapters.Chapter one deals withintroduction. It consists of general background, steps of errors analysis,importance of studying learners errors, interlingul and intralingual errors, theTharu language review of related literature, objectives andsignificance of thestudy.The second chapter dealswith the methodology adopted tocarry out inthe study as the sources of data, sampling procedures, tools and process of datacollection and limitations of the study. The third chapter deals with the analysisand interpretation of data. Thischapter consists of two parts:one deals withtheanalysisand interpretation of interlingual errorsin transformation, translationand free-composition and otherdealswith the clssification of interlingual errorsmade by the Tharu studentsstudying in grade ten.The chapter four presents thesummaryof findings and recommendations.Finally, references and appendiceshave been mentionedin the concluding chapter.
