Abstract: The dissertation entitled "Education status of married women in Tamangcommunity in Bachhauli VDC", Submitted to the Central Department ofPopulationStudies (CDPS) is based on primary data, collected from 2 wards ofBachhauli VDC of Chitwan District in July 2008. This includes 110 marriedTamang female. The main objective of this study is to find out the educationalstatus of married women in Tamang community. For this purpose, further it isdone to identify their literacy status, causesof illiteracy, dropout level, Causesof dropout and reasons of discrimination. To conduct this studysemi-structured questionnaire was designed for thedata collection. Most of the questions were pre-coded and some open questionshad also been included in the questionnaire. 41 close questions were preparedand interviewed to the targeted population from whom data were collected. 2open ended questionsand 3questions for focus group discussions were selected.The filled up questionnaire were done the manual editing throughly. Aftercompleting the manual editing the data was analyzed using SPSS software. Theanalyzed data were interpreted using different statistical tools anddescription.  Out of total 110 respondents 54.55 percent are literate but they areconcentrate lower secondary, pre-primary and non formal sector.  It is found that increasing the level of education, decreasing the numberof female attainment in School.  Most of the respondents 94.45 percent women dropout their education.The main causes of dropout are marriage and failed in exam. v  It is found that there is discrimination between male and female forgetting education. The main thing that brings discrimination is poortraditional belief.
