Abstract: The present study entitled"Communicative Activities Used by Secondary EnglishTeachers"is an attempt to find out the communicative activities used in EnglishLanguage classroom and then to analyze the communicative language classes. This studywas a descriptive type of research in nature. I used both primary and secondary sources ofdata while carrying out this study. The primary sources of data werethe English languageteachers from secondary levelof Dang district. Similarly, secondary sources of data weredifferent books. I observed the classes of secondary English teachers with the help ofthechecklist,twosets of questionnaires were also distributed to the selected teachers andstudents separately. I found that discussion, pair work, role play and group work were thecommonly used activities. Lack of adequate exposure to the students, the hesitation ofthestudents to speak, use of mother tongue in the classroom and lack of required physicalfacilities were the major problems encountered by the teachers in the teaching ofcommunicative activities. This thesishas been organized intofour chapters. The first chapter deals with the generalbackground, review of the related literature, objectives of the studyandsignificance ofthe study. The second chapter deals with the methodology that consists of sources of data,the population, sample, research toolsandprocess of data collection. Similarly, the thirdchapter deals with thedatacollection. The fourth chapter deals with the findings,recommendation and pedagogical implications.
