Abstract: The present study entitled “Language Used in Air Travel With Special Focus on Register” aims to analyze register used in air travel at word level and describe language used in airline tickets in terms of types of sentence, aspect, tense and voice. The data of the research were secondary, and were judgmentally collected from the related books, websites, airlines and/or travel agencies in Pokhara Valley. Then, the data were collected through observation-the tool for data collection. The outcomes extracted from the data were tabulated on the basis of their linguistic characteristics. Next, the registers were analyzed comparing the common meaning with specific meaning. Then, simple statistical tools were used to analyze the data by calculating the average and percentage. By using data, an effort was first made to compare the register with specific and common meaning. Then, the language of the airline tickets was studied. The study found that the registers in air travel have specific meaning that do not match to the common meaning and in the language of airline tickets complex sentences, simple aspect, non-past tense and active voice are highly used. This thesis comprises four chapters. The chapters are further divided into sub-headings. Chapter one deals with general background of the study and its other sub-headings-review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. Chapter two deals with the methodology which includes the sources of data, process of data collection and analysis and limitation of the study. Chapter three consists of the analysis and interpretation of the collected data. Here, descriptive approaches as well as statistical tools have been adopted. Chapter four summarizes the whole study where findings with some recommendations have been drawn.
