Abstract: This research work entitled "Information Literacy for Teacher Development" has been carried out to find out the perception of university level English language teachers’ towards information literacy as one of the best skills for teacher development and available college environment to make them information literate teachers. The study was carried out considering the significance of the information literacy for teacher development in this 21st century where information plays a vital role in every steps of our life. The primary data was collected from sixty certificate or bachelor level English language teachers from thirty colleges of Kathmandu valley selected by using non-random judgmental sampling procedure. The data obtained from the respondents through questionnaires have been analyzed and interpreted using simple statistical tools.The study shows that almost all the teachers perceive that information literacy is one of the best emerging skills to make the teachers competent and proficient.On the other hand, there is no the effective environment available in their institution to make them information literate teachers. This thesis comprises four chapters. Chapter one deals with general background on teacher development and information literacy,review of related literature,objectives and significance of the study. Chapter two deals with the procedure adopted to carry out the research. It contains information on the sources of data,population of the study, sampling procedure, tools, and process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three consists of the analysis and interpretation of the data. Chapter four deals with the major findings of the study on the basis of analysis and interpretation of the collected data. It also deals with some recommendations made, based on the major finding of the study. Finally,chapter four followed by the references and appendices.
