dc.description.abstractThis study entitled‘Translation in Nepal Television News’was conductedtofind outthe strategiesused in translating TV news andthe linguistic andcultural gaps of translation in translating them. One hundred and eightytermsfrom Nepali version of the TV news and corresponding words from the Englishversion of the same news were collected for the study. Likewise, two hundredgaps were also collected from Nepali and English versionsof TV news.Thefindings of this study showed that ninedifferent techniques were found to havebeen employed in translating the terms of the news. From this study, it wasfound that literal translation is the mostfrequently used procedure in translatingterms of news.Phonological, lexical and structural gaps were found in thestudy. In the gaps, structural gap was more frequently foundintranslatingnews. The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one is an introductory part whichincludes generalbackground, review of the related literature, objectives of thestudy, significance of the study and some specific terms which are used in thisthesis. Chapter two deals with the methodology under which the sources ofdata, procedures of data collection and limitationsof the study are presented.Chapter three consists of analysis and interpretation of the data. Chapter fourincludes the findings and recommendations of the study. The references andappendices are the concluding parts of the study.en_US
