dc.description.abstractThe present study entitled “Verbal Affixation in English and Doteli Dialect of Nepali” has been carried out to identify the verbal affixes and the rules in the Doteli dialect of Nepali and also to find out the similarities and differences in verbal affixation in Doteli and English. This research is based on the responses given by 80 native speakers of Doteli including illiterate and literate. The researcher used the stratified random sampling procedure to sample the population. The interview schedule and questionnaire were used to elicit data from illiterate and literate people respectively. On the basis of the collected data, the analysis has been done. After analysis, it was found that Doteli has more number of verbal affixes in comparison to English and they are more complex than those of English. Both the Doteli dialect of Nepali and English have more or less similar affixation systems. This research study consists of four chapters. Chapter one deals with general background of contrastive analysis, morphology, verbal morphology, an overview of the Doteli dialect of Nepali, word formation processes in English. Verbal affixation in English, review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study are also included. Chapter two deals with the methodology which was followed in the study. It deals with the sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, research tool, process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three deals with the analysis and interpretation of the data with appropriate references. Chapter four deals with findings and recommendations. On the basis of findings, some recommendations have been made for pedagogical implications.en_US
