Abstract: This research is on the Title “Safe Abortion Practice: A Case Study of Tikapur Municipality, Kailali District”. The study focused on these women who had come to taken safe abortion service inTikapur Hospital, Chandimai medical and Naina Tara clinic at time 26th Bhadra to 7th Mansir 2065’. The main objective of study design is to identify the safe abortion practice in kailali district. Likewise it is studied to find out the cause of abortion and socio-economic condition of woman who take the safe abortion service. It also analyzes the situation of safe abortion service and practice in the study area. This study also designed to find out whether the more women are interested towards the medical method or towards the surgical method for abortion practice. Percent distribution and cross tables are used to describe socioeconomic and demographic status of women who had come to take safe abortion practice. Tikapur municipality one of the tharu caste dominated municipality. In this study among 90 respondents majority of them were tharu (33.33%), and Brahmin were 31.11 percent. Out of whole respondent 56.67 percent were literate and 43.33 percent were illiterate. About 21 percent respondents had SLC and above level education. There were 44.44 percent of women were engage in agriculture where as 35.56 percent women were engage in household work. From the study, 36.67 percent respondents were between the age group of 25-29 years and 34.44 percent were between the age group of 20-24. There were 70 percent respondents were not knowing about the meaning of safe abortion and 53.33 percent were known about effect of unsafe abortion. Similarly only 21.11 percent respondents had known about legal process of abortion. Likewise 65.56 percent of respondent choose hospital for abortion practice. About 68 percent of respondents did abortion for unwanted pregnancy and 16.67 percent did abortion after sex selection. Unwanted pregnancy results from not using of contractive are 49.18 percent and in 42.62 percent it was due to contraceptive failure. The methods used for abortion was surgical in 60 percent of respondents. The women who want to use contraceptive in future were 88.89 percent, and 37.5 percent wants dipo as their first choice.
