dc.description.abstractThisthesis entitled“ENGLISH AND LOHORUNG KINSHIP TERMS” presents a clearpicture of comparative study between Lohorung Rai and English Kinship Terms. Thepresent study includes both consanguineal and affinal types both perspectives viz. maleand female ego in Lohorung and English.To accomplish the objectives of the study theresearcher collected data of Lohorung native speakers from Diding VDC and KhandbariMunicipality of Sankhuwa Sabha district using stratified random sampling procedure.The sampledpopulation of this study consists of ‘sixty native speakers’ ofLohorunglanguage but English kinship terms were taken from secondary sources of data. Themajor findings of the studyarethat inEnglish, kinsmen are addressed by the name inmost of the cases but in Lohorung, kinsmen are addressed by the variousterms. Thenumber of kinship terms is greater in Lohorung than in English. Similarly, in English,there is no any distinction for the elder and younger kinship relations whereas there aredistinctions for the elders and youngers in Lohorung. This thesis comprises four chapters. The first chapter includesgeneral background,review of the relatedliterature, objectives, significance of the study, and definition ofvarious kinship terms. Similarly, the second chapter deals with sources of data, sample ofthe study, tools for data collection, process of datacollection, and limitations of the studyThe third chapter comprises the analysis and interpretation of collected data and thefourth chapter deals with findings and recommendations of the study on the basis ofanalysis and interpretation of the collecteddata. Final part of the thesis entails referencesand appendices.en_US
