Flood and environmental risk management is a new concept that recognizes the connection between managing flood risk and managing risks to the environment and ecosystems. It addresses the flood–waste–ecosystem nexus through structural and nonstructural solutions, taking into account urban–rural and upstream–downstream linkages in project planning and design.
