Sagunsandphags, the cultural songs sung by the members of Doteli community in various ausupicious occasions, incorporate the traditional life style of the community members. However with the development of modern consciousness aided by various factors of modernization like education, transportation, communication, state bureaucracyand its apparatus, various governmental and nongovernmental development agencies, the community is on the verge of losing its cultural traits. With the loss of many of unique cultural traits these songs are losing their signification within the Doteli cultural system. In this connection, this thesis attempts to map the changes in oral cultures and rituals likePhagsandSaguns focusing on the urgent need to preserve their cultural aura.en_US
