dc.description.abstractThis thesis entitled "Forms of Address in English and Doteli Dialect"made a comparison of the address forms used in the Doteli dialect andEnglish. The major objective of the research is to identify how the nativespeakers of the Doteli dialect and English languages made a choice of theforms of address, keeping in mind various factors like age sex, relation,social setting, culture, etc. related to addressor and addressee. The studymade a comparison of the forms of address used for consanguinealrelations, affinal relations and social relations including strangers, friends,teachers and students, people holding professional positions like officer,doctor, nurse and others in Doteli society. The data was collected from 70native speakers of Doteli dialect in Doti district. The sources of data forthe forms of address in English were based on the previous research anddifferent related books. The researcher has found that the Doteli dialect isfar richer in the forms of address compared to English. This thesis contains four chapters: thefirst chaptercontains generalbackground of the related literature, objectives of the study and definitionof the specific terms. Thesecond chapteris related to the methodology,which deals with sources of data, population of study, samplingprocedure, research tools, process of data collection and limitations ofstudy. Similarly, thethird chaptercomprised analysis and interpretationof the data obtained. Finally, thefourth chaptercontains the findings,recommendations and pedagogical implications of the study.en_US
