The present study entitled “Tense-Aspect System in English and Limbu” is an attempt to identify morphologically and/ or morpho-syntactically grammaticalised tenses and aspects in English, and ascertain this system in Limbu, so that comparison could be made between tense-aspect systems of these two languages. In general, both languages code past and non-past tenses morphologically, but the future tense under non-past is expressed lexically or periphrastically. In the similar vein, both languages code perfect and progressive aspects morpho-syntactically, but the Limbu language is not as flexible as the English language in case of aspectual combinations. The researcher took the primary sources, i.e., sample population from Hattikharka VDC, Dhankuta district to carry out the research work using the set of structured interview sheet. The study is plotted into four chapters. The first chapter of this thesis comprises general background of tense-aspect system, its literature, objectives, and significance of the study as major plots within which other small subplots are included. The second chapter deals with the methodology adopted for the study like the sources of data collection, tools of data collection, process of data collection, sampling procedures and limitations of the study. The third chapter is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of the collected data. The last chapter is for findings and recommendations of the study. Findings are derived from the analysis and interpretation of the data carried out in Chapter Three. And, recommendations are made on the basis of the findings. In the final section references and appendixes are included.en_US
