This research analyzes Mehta’s film Fire, which is well-known for its lesbianism. The study focuses on the assumptions of middle class sexuality so as to subvert them. By deriving insights from Marxist feminism, it proves how the female protagonists, Radha and Sita resort to lesbianism so as to challenge the heterosexuality, the ideal form of middle class sexuality, and thereby the middle class patriarchy.en_US
