dc.description.abstractThe present research work is an effort to analyze the vocabulary usedin the social study textbook for grade eight in private schools. In order tocarry out this study the researcher collected data from the 'Social StudyTextbook for Grade Eight’: originally written in Nepali by Janak MaterialsCentre, Ltd. and later translated by same centre, JEMC, Sanothimi,Bhaktapur. Similarly, the researcher determined the following criteria tocarry out this research: total number, parts of speech,frequency and the levelof difficulty. The main tool that the researcher made use of was intensivestudy' of the textbook. Another tool used by the researcher was test items:the test items subsumed the two different tests. On the basis of the collected data, the state of the vocabulary in socialstudy textbook for private school was determined using simple statisticaltools such as: total number and frequency of occurrence. The findings of thestudy show that more than 70 percent (%) vocabularies are easy tocomprehend for the students. The study consists of four chapters altogether.Chapter one introducesthe study in terms of the general background, review of related literature,objectives of the study and definition of the specific terms.Chapter twodiscusses the methodology used for the study under which the sources ofdata, process of data collection and limitation of the study are mentioned.Chapter three deals on analysis and interpretation of the data. To be specific,statistical and analytical approaches have been used for the purpose. Chapterfour discusses the major findings and recommendations of the study.en_US
