dc.description.abstract | This thesis entitled ''A Comparative Study on the Terms of Address inTheAssamese, Nepali and English Languages'' has been carried out to findout the terms of address used in the Assamese, Nepali and EnglishLanguages and to conduct their comparative analysis. To carry out theresearch, the data for theAssamese language was collected from the nativespeakers of their languagefromGolaghat and Dibrugarh districtsof Assamand the data for the English language were extracted from secondarysources. Being a native speaker of theNepali language, my friends and Ibecame the source of theNepali language.The major findings are statedbelow. Assamese language is found to be the richest in the context of termsof address among all the three languages. This thesis has been written in four chapters. The first chapter dealswith the general background, review of related literature, objectives of thestudy, significance of the study and definition of some specific terms. The second chapter of the study deals with the methodology adoptedfor the study under which the sources of data, sampling procedure, tools fordata collection, process of data collection and limitation of the study arementioned. The third chapter of the study contains the analysis and interpretationof the data obtained presenting them through simple statistical method. Adescriptive approach has also been used for the analysis and interpretation ofthe data. The fourth chapter consists of the findings of the study and on thebasis of this findings, some recommendations and pedagogical implicationshave been mentioned in this chapter.
