Abstract: The title of the study is 'Role of Pair-work Technique in Developing Reading Comprehension'. The main objective of the study is to find out the role of pair-work technique in developing reading comprehension in secondary level (grade nine). To accomplish the objectives of the study, thirty-two grade nine students of Jana Jyoti Secondary School, Lamjung were selected as primary source of data. They were taught 10 seen and 13 unseen texts through pair-work technique. Pre-test, progressive test (two) and post-test were conducted during the study. The role of pair-work technique is found very effective to develop the reading comprehension of secondary level grade nine students. This thesis comprises four chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the topic in which general background, importance and a brief history of ELT, pair work technique, teaching of reading skill, reading comprehension, types of reading, definitions, importance and steps of action research, review of the related literature, objectives and significance of the study are presented. The second chapter includes methodology where sources of data, sample and sampling procedure, tools and process of data collection and limitations of the study are included. In the third chapter, the analysis and interpretation of the collected data are presented by using different table. The fourth chapter contains the findings and recommendations. References and appendices are presented in the final part of the thesis
