Item Item Customers’ Satisfaction Towards Claim Settlement of Life Insurance Policies in Nepal (With Reference to Nepal Life Insurance Corporation and Life Insurance Corporation Nepal)(Department of Management, 2021) Adhikari, SantoshClaims Settlement is considered to be one of the most valuable possessions of any insurer. It is one aspect of insurance practice, the handling claims, which can make the image of insurance company by satisfying customers. This study seeks to examine the claim settlement of claimants and its impact on customer satisfaction. In specific, the study investigates clarity of settlement advice, claim procedure and payment of claim of the claim clients. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire administered to 270 claimants selected from two life insurance companies of Kathmandu valley. The descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings reveal that claimants are having payment of claim have low significant but clarity of settlement advice and claim procedure are found to be significant in predicting customer customers' satisfaction. However, payment of claim is found to be insignificant in predicting customers' satisfaction. The results also confirm that there is significant impact of claim settlement on customers' satisfaction. Claim settlement starts with delivering transparent information without any loopholes (clarity of settlement advice), then understanding the right, short and simple approach (claim procedure), to pay benefited interest amount to clients (payment of claim). This whole sequential series are effectively performed to best explain claim settlement and ultimately to meet customer satisfaction. The result of this study has helped to identify the role of clarity of settlement advice, claim procedure, and payment of claim in claim settlement of life insurance companies. It becomes even more important for the insurance companies to properly balance the cycle of claim settlement and serve best customer satisfaction. As well as the customers can get detailed information for the future to get insurance policy. The concept can be explored and examined more deeply in the future with the consideration of several other variables affecting customer satisfaction.Item Impact of Cost Control in Nepalese Listed Manufacturing Companies Profitability(Department of Management, 2018) Adhikari, SantoshThis study examines the impact of cost control on Nepalese listed manufacturing companies profitability with a survey study of five listed manufacturing companies in Nepal with the purpose of providing critical evaluation of the need and significance of cost control. This study used primary data taken from five companies which remain in the industry more than ten years among eighteen manufacturing companies listed in Nepal Stock Exchange which are operating at the time as manufacturing firms. Descriptive and analytical research design ware employed to examine the impact of some major variable such as Budgeting, Standard Costing, Internal and external costing, Responsibility Accounting, Marginal costing and Value analysis on profitability. The surveyed data of five manufacturing companies have been analyzed using different statistical tools. Data were collected by distributing structured questionnaire to respective company’s management and employees. Finding of the research shows that cost control tools have negative relationship with profitability. Moreover, insufficient resources have created more challenged for application of cost control tools in Nepalese manufacturing companies. It is therefore recommended to use value analysis for cost control and increase profitability of the organizations. The main objectives of this study were to explore the practice of teacher autonomy at university level and to analyze the term teacher autonomy in relation with professional development. The research was based on narrative inquiry research design and qualitative method in nature. The participants of this study were four university level English language teachers who were selected purposefully. In-depth interview was used for the collection of data and thematic approach was applied for the analysis and interpretation of the data. The findings of this research suggest that teachers practiced autonomy in their teaching and learning behavior though the practices were confined in some of the areas. It is found that teachers involved in various autonomous activities such as conducting research, being responsible, self-learning, self-assessment and so on which helped them to move towards professional development. Thus, it can be concluded that there is observable significantrelationship between teacher autonomy and teacher professional development. This thesis consists of five chapters. The chapter one contains background of the study, statement of research problem, objectives, research questions,delimitations of the research, significance of the study, and operational definition of key terms. The chapter two deals with the review of the or eticalliterature, review of empirical literature, implications of the literature review and conceptual framework. Similarly, chapter three consists of the design and methods of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, sources of data, data collection tool and technique, data collection procedures, data analysis procedures, and ethical consideration. Likewise, chapter four deals with the analysis of data and interpretation of the result. Finally, chapter five contains findings, conclusion and recommendations.Item Resistance Against Colonial Domination in Mulk Raj Anand’sTwo Leaves and a Bud(Central Department of English Kirtipur, Kathmandu, 2016) Adhikari, SantoshThis research explores how Anand frames his novel Two Leaves and a Bud as a protest against exploitation of British Empire over Indian locals and natural resources. Anand, in this novel, through the medium of Indian coolies, protests against the brutality and bestiality of the British colonizers and their sycophants. Postcolonial theory is applied to explore the domination of British owners (colonizers) and resistance posed by the Indian workers in Macpherson Tea Estate, Assam. Gangu, who represents the colonized Indians, is exploited and dehumanized. His wife dies of a disease and he was killed while trying to protect his daughter from being raped by a British officer. Through the characters such as Gangu and John De La Harve, Anand makes the people conscious about the excessive exploitation of the British colonizers and resists against the colonial oppression. Through this novel Anand endeavors to develop the resistive mentality among the colonized Indians.
