Item Nasal Carriage Rate of Staphylococcus Aureus and MRSA among Health Care Workers in Tertiary Care Center(Faculty of Microbiology, 2017) Adhikari, SunitaStaphylococcus aureus is a gram positive bacterium responsible for several bacterial infections. S. aureus especially methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), are usually resistant to several antibiotics which is a global public health problem, associated with considerable mortality and morbidity worldwide. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus continues to be an important nosocomial pathogen and infections are often difficult to manage due to its resistance to multiple antibiotics. Healthcare workers are important source of nosocomial transmission of MRSA. This study aimed to determine the frequency of staphylococcal nasal carriage of health care workers (HCWs) and antimicrobial susceptibility profile of the isolates in Gandaki Medical College and Research Centre Pvt. Ltd, Pokhara. The study was conducted in altogether 288 samples. For isolation and identification of MRSA culture and different biochemical tests were performed. Out of 58 (20.14%) S. aureus isolated 18.97% are MRSA, more MRSA was noticed in female (19.15%) than male (18.18%). However, there is no significant association between gender and MRSA (p=0.723). The prevalence of nasal carrier MRSA is 3.82%. Hence, it was concluded that prevalence of MRSA still emerging. Nasal carriage of S. aureus and MRSA among HCWs necessitates the need of control in the frequency of their exposure with the vulnerable patients and need of strict infection control measures to be followed to control the nosocomial infections. The results emphasize the need for high standards of infection control in tertiary care. Vancomycin and Amikacin was found to be most effective (100%) against Methicillin-Resistant S. aureus.Item An Overview of Socio-Economic Changes Brought By Tourism and Prospects of Promotion of Ecotourism on Nagarkot Area(Department of Sociology, 2010) Adhikari, SunitaAssuming that there will be minimum negative impacts, maximum benefits for local people and their environment, and first hand natural and cultural experiences for visitors can be obtained by promotion of Ecotourism. The principal purpose of this study was to analyze the present status of tourism and to study the prospect of environmentally sustainable ecotourism development in Nagarkot. This study was based on the primary data collected through questionnaires from 30 local people, 20 tourists and 20 hotel owners as well as interaction with them and secondary data from various sources. The result of this study is that most of the tourists visiting Nagarkot attracted by the view of sunrise/sunset, sightseeing of Himalayan range and peaceful environment also supports for the potentiality of the area as an ecotourism site. This study identified that there is fewer negative environmental as well as cultural impact on the area. Tourism is found to create some economic opportunities to local people but it is not in a desirable extent and the economic benefit is not distributed equally. Although a number of constraints to further development of ecotourism were identified – poor transportation and communication facilities, poor recreational facilities, a limited season, lack of trained manpower, lack of marketing, poor solid waste management system, limited number of educated people – there is a potential to develop a viable ecotourism nterprise for a high value, low volume ecotourism market. The study concluded that Nagarkot offers a high value ecotourism attraction in terms of the natural and scenic attributes combined with the cultural and lifestyle of its indigenous people. Hence, the prospects of ecotourism on Nagarkot is found to be very cheerful and relies greatly on planners, government, local leaders and local people of the area as well as infrastructure development that are essential for ecotourism development and thus achieving partial aim of millennium development goal.Item Teachers' Use of Internet Based Resources for Their Professional Development(Department of English Education, 2019) Adhikari, SunitaThis research entitledTeachers' Use of Internet Based resources for theirProfessional Developmentaimed to find out the teachers practice on usingIBR and to explore the role of internet based resources for teachers'professional development. To attain the objectives of this research, I chose amix-method research design. As a Sample, I selected 40 bachelor level Englishteachers using cluster sampling procedure. Both the primary and secondarysources of data were utilized inthisresearch. Questionnaire and Interviewwere used as the main research tools to collect the data required for thestudy. The data collected from the participants were analyzed and interpretedby using both descriptive as well as statistical tools. The Findings of the studyshowed that all the bachelor level English teachers made use a wide range ofinternet based resourcesincluding:E-journals, Articles,Google, E-books,YouTube videos, Email and Blogs to enhance their professional skills. Theyused internet based resources for sharing teaching idea, methodologiestechniques and problems, writing journals, articles and reviews, researching, presenting, updating, making teaching materials, developing positive attitude, promoting knowledge, skills and attitudeand so on. As the role of internetbased resourcesthey viewed thatIBR made them creative, motivated, confident, active, informed, updatedand knowledgeable which are very muchnecessary to develop their professional quality. The thesis hasbeen incorporated into five chapters. The first chapter dealswith the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives, research questions, significance of the study, delimitation of the study andoperational definitions of key terms of thestudy. The second chapter incorporates review of related theoretical, empirical literature, implication ofthe review for the study and conceptual framework. In the same way, thirdchapter deals with the methodology employed to conduct the study. It givesinformation about the design of the study, population and sample, samplingstrategies, study area, data collection tools, data collection procedure anddata analysis and interpretation procedure. Similarly, the fourth chapter dealswith the analysis of data and interpretation of the results and summary of thefindings. Accordingly, the fifth chapter includes conclusions andrecommendations. Some recommendations for policy related, practice relatedand further research related are presented in this section. This chapter isfollowed by references and appendices.
