Item Factors associated with drug abuse among current female injecting drug user attending in Naulo ghumti, Pokhara(Department of Sociology, 2012) Paudel, Narayan PrasadThe study entitled 'Factors Associated with Drug Abuse among Female Injecting Drug Users Attending in Naulo Ghumti Pokhara' has been conducted with overall objective to find out the factors associated with drug abuse. The study was conducted among 100 female injecting drug users by applying cross sectional descriptive research design. Non - probability purposive sampling technique had been chosen and interview technique had used to collect data. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents (81%) were the young people of 15-29 years, 36% of them were Gurung, 66% had passed S.L.C. / Intermediate level education. Only 24% of the respondents had reported that they had started drug due to stress (poor academic achievement, love tragedy, unemployment, job frustration and family tension), among them 66.67% had started due to family tension. Out of 100 respondents 84( 84% ) had been influenced by social factors (peer pressure, broken home, lack of love and affection from parents, lack of attention of parents and lack of knowledge/information). Among social factors 70% had reported due to peer pressure. Out of 100 respondents 16 (16%) were affected by individual factors (curiosity, pleasure seeking and search for identity). Among them 56% had reported the cause of drug use due to pleasure seeking. It was found that multiple factors were responsible to initiate drug abuse. The respondents whose fathers’ occupation was agriculture found to be more affected by stress. The FIDUs (Female Intravenous Drug Users) whose father's were engaged in services found to be more affected by social factors. Fathers’ occupations, was found less significant to initiate drug abuse due to individual factors. As the age grew older to start the drug abuse, it was found that the social factors leading to start drug were effective. Majority of them (35%) had started to use drug when they were 20-24 years, 84% FIDUs had got relapsed and cause of relapse was found to be peer pressure for 54% of the respondents. While a novel is a written work of art designed to be read, a film is a visual and aural art to be seen and heard. Nonetheless, they share a number of elements like narrative, setting, plot and so forth. This research examines how the novelThe Da Vinci Codeand its film adaptation stand as autonomous works of art in spite of their having played on the same themes and the same narrative. In the similar way the film adaptation slightly deviates from its source novel The Da Vinci Codein its unorthodox stance towards the issue of Jesus Christ's divinity.Item Proficiency of Grade Nine Students in Free and Guided Writing(Department of English Education, 2008) Paudel, Narayan PrasadThis study "The Proficiency of Grade Nine Students in Free and Guided Writing" was conducted to find out the proficiency of the ninthgraders studying in different government aided schools in Madi, Chitwan,in free and guided writing. The sample size of study include 40 studentsfrom four government aided schools from Chitwan district. The researcheradopted the stratified random sampling procedure to select information.After conducting a test, the test items were finalized without changesbecause the pilot study showed that the text items were appropriate. Then,the test was administered to the students. After the marks assigned to by thesample students, they were analyzed and interpreted in terms of differentvariables using different statistical tools. The average proficiency of the students in free writing and guidedwriting was found 37.7% and 47.45% respectively. Among the studentsrepresenting four different schools, the students of M.S.S. were found themost proficient both in free and guided writing with the marks 40.8% and53.6% respectively and the students of S.S.S. were found the leastproficient in both free and guided writing with the average marks of 35.6%and 43% respectively. This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with thegeneral background of the study, free writing and guided writing, review ofthe related literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter deals with methodology. Level(Department of English Education, 2007) Paudel, Narayan PrasadThis thesis entitled “Content Validity of ELT Materials and Practices English Test Papers at B.Ed.level” attempts to determine whether the test papers of ELTMaterials and Practices have content validity or not. The main objective of this research study was to analyze the content validityof test papers of ELT Materials and Practices at B.Ed. level. For this purpose theresearcher has analyzed 5years (from 2059 to 2063) question papers of the ELTMaterials and Practices. The test contents were comparedwith the course contents interms of coverage and weightage. After the analysis and the interpretation of thequestion papers as a whole, it was found that the English test papers of ELT Materialsand Practices have low content validity in terms of bothcoverage and weightage. This study is divided into four chapters. The first chapter deals with theintroduction which consists of general background, introduction of a test and its types,language teaching and testing, requirements of a good test, introduction to majorEnglish at B.Ed. level, course structures of the Bachelor’s Degree (English inEducation), the syllabus of ELT Materials and Practices at B.Ed. second year. It alsoincludes review of the literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of the data which havebeen analyzed and interpreted in terms of coverage and weightage to find out thecontent validity of the tests. The fourth chapter deals with the findings and recommendations of the study.
