Item Effectiveness of Homework in Teaching English to the Lower Graders(Department of English Education, 2019) Shah, MeeraThis research work attempts to find out Effectiveness of Homework in Teaching English to the Lower Graders (sixth Grade) of Sunsari District in a variety of test items. To carry out this research work, the researcher has prepared the test items including different test items related to the text book of standard sixth. Then a pre-test was administrated to a number of 40 students in order to find ability of the students. Then, students were divided into two groups. Finally, after a month of teaching post-test was administered to the both groups. The sources of data were 40 students from Bha. Si Secondary School of Sunsari District (sixth graders only). After the administration of both tests, the answer sheets of the students were collected, analyzed and score of both groups were compared. It has been found that this research shows that 'Experimental' group performed relatively better in every aspect of language, that is 'Experimental' group has got 18.575 more average percentage than 'Control' group in post-test. So it can be said that encouraging students to do home work is relatively better for language learning. This research study consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduction contains general background, statements of the problems, rational of the study, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study and delimitations of the study. Similarly, second chapter deals with review of the related literature, implication of the reviewed literature and conceptual framework. Chapter three is about methods and procedures of the study which consists of design of the study, sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedures, data collection tools and procedures, process of data collection and data analysis and interpretations. Fourth chapter deals with results and discussions of the data. Finally fifth chapter consists of findings and recommendations of the study. Reference and appendices are presented at the end of this report.
