The objectives of this study were; to identify the characteristics of mathematics teachers in the effective mathematics teaching learning, to identify the students' characteristics of effective mathematics classroom and to explore the school teacher in the effective mathematics teaching learning. To accomplish these objectives, I choose qualitative research design under this case study of a school. In this research, I used two types of data: primary as well as secondary data. The primary data included the class observation, interview among head teacher, mathematics teacher, and students whereas secondary data included the eight years result of SLC and related documents of the school. The collected data was firstly categorized on the basis of themes that are teachers, students and school characteristics. The data were analyzed qualitatively in interpretive way. Theme was generated on the basis of conceptual framework. One head teacher, 4 mathematics teachers, and 10 students were the participants of this study. Then, it was concluded that the opportunity for professional development, beliefs of teachers and qualification of teachers are the main characteristics of teachers in an effective school. Similarly, opportunity to learn, students learning activities and collaborative learning styles are the student's characteristics. Finally, the school administrative part is also found to be equally important characteristics for effective mathematics learning which are the school enabling conditions and mathematics teaching coherences. At last, it was concluded that above characteristics is need to implement in every school for effective mathematics teaching and learning.Item Perception of Students on Teacher-Student Collaboration in EFL Classroom(Department of English Education, 2022) Awasthi, LalitaCollaborative learning (CL) has been a genuine issue of discussion and an area of considerable research interest in the field of English language teaching (ELT).In this concern, the research study entitled ‘Perception of Students on Teacher-Student Collaboration in EFL Classroom’ was an attempt to explore the perception of students on teacher-student collaboration in the EFL classroom and the role of teacher-student collaboration in student learning. For this, five M.Ed. fourth-semester students were accessed purposively using non-random sampling procedures. Interviews and informal conversations were the major tools for data collection. Similarly, findings also revealed teacher-student collaboration has a positive and productive effect on students’ academic achievement. This thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter deals with the background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of key terms. The second chapter comprises a review of the related theoretical and empirical studies, implications of the studies and conceptual framework. Likewise, the third chapter consists design of the study and method of the study, population, sample, and sampling strategies, research tools, sources of data, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure, data analysis and interpretation procedures and ethical consideration. The fourth chapter includes analysis of data and interpretation of results. Finally, the fifth chapter focuses on findings, conclusion, and recommendations based on analysis and interpretation of the study. The references and appendices have been included in the last part of the thesis.Item Practices of collaborative learning in ELT class at secondary level(Department of English Education, 2022) Aryal, AshaThis study entitledPractices of Collaborative Learning in ELT Class at Secondary Levelwas conducted to explore the extent of practices of collaborative learning in ELT classroom and to explore the activities used for collaborative learning in ELT class. I used survey as a research design. Fifty students were selected as participants. They were selected from different community schools of Kathmandu valleyusing simple random sampling procedure. In order to obtain the objectives, close ended and open-ended questionnaire were prepared and distributed. The data were analyzed statistically and thematically. The result revealed that group work, project work, think pair share, simulation, role play are the activities used in collaborative learning. Students also believed that collaborative learning in ELT classroom helps for the better understanding and developing communication skills in them. The findings showed that both the teacher and students should take active participation for making collaborative learning fruitful. Additionally, the study revealed that the teachers should build friendly relation, give equal opportunities and encourage students for the better learning and students should also build friendly relation, participate actively and understand the importance of collaborative leaning. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the study which consists of background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definitions of the key terms. Similarly, second chapter is about the review of theoretical as well as empirical literature and its implication for the study. Moreover, it also includes the conceptual framework. Likewise, the third chapter deals with the methods and procedures of the study which covers design and method of the study, population, sample and sampling strategy, research tools, sources of data, data collection procedures, data analysis and interpretation procedures, and ethical considerations. In the same way, the fourth chapter includes the analysis and interpretation of the data. Finally, the fifth chapter incorporates the findings and conclusion of the study followed by some policy related, practiced related, and further research related recommendations based on the study.
