Item Critique of Western Modernity in Marquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude(Department of English, 2019) Lamichhane, DikshaItem Perpetuation of Oral Tradition through Multiple Narration in Louise Erdrich's Love Medicine(Department of English, 2007) Wagle, Krishna PrasadThough on the surface Erdrich's use of multiple narration in Love Medicine seems to present the world as alienated and chaotic, a close look at the book in light of the Ojibwe oral tradition and culture reveals that the fragmentary multiple narratives, which are built layer upon layer, work together to express the Ojibwe worldview and cultural values, which were till date survived by oral tradition. As Ojibwe philosophy believes in holism, a holistic study is required for the comprehension of underlying Ojibwe traits in the novel. Study of both form and content, storytellers and stories justify that Erdrich strives to perpetuate the oral tradition through her various storytellers.Item Socialization of Orphan Children (A Case Study of Aasha ko Kiran Orphanage Daldale, Devchuli-13, Nawalpur)(Department of English, 2019) Poudel, DhrubaThis study was conducted in Aasha ko kiran (AKOK) on the Orphans. A sample of 49 children (24 girls and 25 boys) out of 52 children’s was taken. The main objective of this thesis is to find out the situation and socialization activity in AKOK and to provide appropriate suggestion for their bright future. Both exploratory and descriptive research design were used to understand the socialization process in the mainstream and the cultural values of AKOK Orphanages worldwide are responsible for providing the support and resources for a holistic development in the lives of children. The findings of this thesis offer important clarity on the most common practices that AKOK offer to care for orphans. Findings reveal common practices in education, health, finances, and the staffing structure. Various methods such as: interview, observation, photographs and case study were used for the data collection. This study offers unique qualitative data from orphanage directors across various sites. It is gratifying to mention that most orphanages are supposed to be giving good care to children and some may not be running properly but as far as the management of AKOK is concerned it was providing admirable facilities to the children living in the orphanage. They were found to have been given good food. The children were found to regard the higher officials and other staff of the organization as their loving guardians. Another remarkable fact found in this orphanage is that though there are both girls and boys they have affinity in them and they regard them like the members of the same family brothers and sisters. The findings of this study reveal the status of extant practices in orphanages of AKOK. Future studies should follow these findings to measure the quality and effectiveness of the common practices in AKOK. This dissertation is divided into seven different chapters.
