Item Effect of earning per share and stock dividend on share price fluctuation of Private Commercial Banks: A comparative study of NMB Bank and Machhapuchhre Bank(Faculty of management, 2020) Shrestha, ShreejinaThe purpose of this study is to examine the effect of earnings per share and stock dividend on the share price of commercial bank in Nepal. The study has been conducted to assess the current situation of the share prices in the market of the commercial banks and describe the situation and event occurring at the present context. The study is based on secondary data of 2 commercial banks of Nepal and data are collected from annual report (F/Y 2011/12 to F/Y 2018/19). The paper investigates the relationship between DPS, EPS, P/E ratio, BVPS, on stock price by using Statistical tool, Correlation and Regression and probable error. EPS and DPS have positive relationship with MPPS. The articles conclude that except DPS and EPS they are other factors i.e. P/E ratio and BVPS also have positive relationship with stock price. Investing in shares provide a profit with the increase in market price and dividend distributed by the companyItem Impact of corporate social responsibility on financial performance of Nepalese commercial banks(Department of Management, 2023) Sthapit, AayushThe role of businesses has evolved from a traditional point of view of businesses’ main focus of profit maximization to a more contemporary view of social responsibility and responsiveness over the last few decades where the importance of CSR is gradually increasing and is becoming ever more significant. This study aims to examine the impact of CSR on financial performance of Nepalese commercial banks. CSR expenses has been used as a proxy for the independent variable CSR while ROA, ROE and EPS have been used as proxies for the dependent variable financial performance. The sample includes 16 out of 27 commercial banks of Nepal with a study period of five years from the fiscal year 2016/17 till 2020/21 making observations of 80 cases. The study is based on secondary data collected from the annual reports of the sample banks as NRB directives from 2016/17 mandated BFIs to allot a percent from net profit for CSR funds for the following year and disclose CSR initiatives in the reports. This study employs a causal comparative research design and uses mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variance, correlation and regression to draw conclusions. The research findings conclude that there is a negative and significant relationship and impact of CSR on ROA, while there are no significant relationships between CSR and the dependent variables ROE and EPS. The Nepali market is unstable, thus there is a great need to research how factors like EPS, DPS, and PE Ratio affect stock price. Since changes take place daily, the market needs to be thoroughly researched to give investors the most recent information. This study elaborates the impact of internal factors on stock prices. This study can help management structure their dividend policies and regulate other internal factors that have some bearing on stock price. Investors can use the information from this study to tailor their investment plans. In the study, three variables are taken as independent variables: Dividend per share, Earnings per share and Price earnings ratio. Here, Market price per share is taken as the dependent variable. The descriptive and causal comparative research designs have been applied and the secondary data is used for the analysis. The data has been collected through secondary sources. The study was conducted on 10 ‘A’ level banks involving in banking activites at least for 10 years. The numbers of observations include 100 observations from 10 commercial banks collected from the fiscal year 2011/12 to 2020/21. In this study, the data was evaluated using mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variation, correlation and regression. The findings revealed that DPS, EPS and PE ratio have significant effect on the MPS. Data were sourced from the annual reports of the sampled banks and analyzed using regression model. The results revealed that earning per share and price- earnings ratios have the significant positive association with share price while dividend yield showed the significant inverse association with share price. The major conclusion of the study is that dividend yield, earning per share and price-earnings ratio are the most influencing factors in determining share price in Nepalese commercial banks. The results of this study uncovered new evidence in Nepalese perspective, which are considered to be valuable to the market participants. The main purpose of this study is to investigate, analysis and interpret the share price movement of Commercial Banks of Nepal. To meet the purpose of the study descriptive and causal comparative research design was used. Seven commercial banks were selected as a sample for the study between the fiscal year 2012/13 to fiscal year 2018/19. Data were obtained from respective commercial banks’ annual report, Nepal Stock Exchange and Security Board of Nepal annual supervision report. Data were analyzed through correlation and multiple regression technique by using SPSS version 25. Variables used were Market price per Share (MPS) as dependent variable and Earnings per Share (EPS), Dividend per Share (DPS), Book Value per Share (BVPS) and Price Earnings Ratio (P/E Ratio) as independent variables. The MPS has positive relation with EPS, P/E ratio and BVPS but has negative relation with DPS. The findings of the study show that there is significant positive correlation between all independent variables (EPS, DPS, BVPS and P/E Ratio) and dependent variable (MPS). Besides this, Earnings, book value, dividend payment, paid up capital, price earnings ratio, and political stability were the determinants of the share price in NEPSE from the respondents of the survey. Finally, the analysis of Nepalese share market, researcher recommends that government should formulate and implement a rigid rules and regulations for the further development of share market. A mechanism to take immediate action against fraud companies is to be established. As a result, Nepalese capital market could be more competitive.
