Item Progress of Tamang Students' Achievement in English(Faculty of English Education, 2012) Tamang, Harsha LalThis research work entitled ‘Progress of Tamang Students' Achievement in English’ aimed to identify the Tamang students’ development and to ascertain the achievement level in English. The data were collected from both the primary and secondary sources. The primary sources were the forty Tamang students of Grade-7 from two public schools Seti Devi Secondary School, Syaule VDC and Ban Devi Secondary School, Chautara VDC of Sindhupalchok district and the secondary sources were the different books, journals, magazines, research reports, theses and other materials which were related to the present study. The informants were selected on the basis of purposive sampling procedure representing both male and female. Tests were the major tools for the collection of data. The finding shows that most of the Tamang students are very poor in their English learning and they possess very normal in progressive achievement in English. This research work consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter includes sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, and tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter, which is the core of this research, is concerned with the analysis and interpretation of the data. The collected data were analysed and interpreted descriptively with illustrations. The fourth chapter is related to findings and recommendations of the study.Item Reading Comprehension Ability of SLC Candidates(Department of English Education, 2014) Ghimire, Chop NarayanThe present research work entitled Reading Comprehension Ability of SLCCandidatesis an attempt to find out the reading comprehension ability of the SLC students.For this,thirty students of grade ten, fifteen boys and fifteen girls were sampled from three different schools of Arghakhanchi district through stratified random sampling procedure. All the sampled population were from public schools. Aset tests of comprising short question, true/false items,matching items, fill in the blanks items and vocabularies items was administered in order to find out the reading comprehension ability of the students. After the analysis and interpretation of the collected data,it was found that the average reading comprehension ability of the students was, the RCA ofthe girls was 49.4% where as the RCA of the boys was 44.9. In this way,RCA of girls were found better than boys. The study is divided into fivechapters. The first chapter includes the general background,statement of the problem, rationale of the study,objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, de limitations of the study and operational definitions of key terms. The second chapter deals with the review of related theoretical literature and review of related empirical literature. It also includes implication of review for the study and conceptual framework.The third chapter includes the methods and procedures of the study. It subsumes design of the study, population and sample, sampling procedure, data collection procedure,data analysis and interpretation procedure. Chapter four encompasses the results and discussion of the collected data.The last chapter consists of summary,conclusions, and implications of the study. The implication has been further presented into three levels, i.e. policy, practical and further research. This final part includes references and appendices as well.
