Item English teachers' views on diary writing and incidental records(Department of English Education, 2022) Pathak, JayantiThe present research work entitled English Teachers’ Views on Diary Writing and Incidental Records, was an attempt to explore the English teachers’ views of diary writing and incidental records and analyze the impact on classroom pedagogical delivery while using diary writing and incidental records. A narrative inquiry through qualitative research design was followed to complete this study. Primary data was collected from the five English language teachers teaching at two basic and three secondary public schools in the Kavrepalnchowk district. The respondents for this research were selected using a purposive non-random sampling procedure. Anin-depth interview was the main tool for data collection. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted using thematic approach. The major finding of this study was that teachers upgrade themselves by finding lapses in their teaching methods and improving themselves through intrinsic motivation. Motivated teachers are more likely to display higher levels of effort, teach more effectively, and develop professionally. Likewise, diary writing and incidental recording help create a student-centered environment. Student-centered environments helps to be more confident, better able to articulate their thoughts and opinions, and find joy in educating themselves. This thesis contains five chapters. The first chapter deals with the background of the study, the statement of the problem, the objectives of the study, the research questions, the significance of the study, the delimitation of the study, and the operational definition of the key terms. Chapter two comprises a review of the theoretical and empirical literature, the implication of the study, and the conceptual framework. Likewise, chapter three covers the design and method of the study, population, sample, and sampling strategies, research tools and sources of data, data collection tools and techniques, data analysis and interpretation procedures, and ethical considerations. Chapter four includes an analysis of the data and an interpretation of the results. Similarly, the fifth chapter focuses on the conclusions and recommendations of the study. Finally, the references and appendices have been included in the last part of the study. This research reveals that individual teachers who routinely keep track of their lives by keeping incidental records and the diary writings of their students begin to plan for better teaching strategies, which helps them play an idol in the teaching profession as well as in their students’ lives too.
