Item Motifs of Heroic Journey in Eric Valli's Film Himalaya(Central Department of English, 2012) Negi, SarmilaThis study explores the images of the heroic fantasies abundant in Eric Valli’s Himalaya. In the film the characters from Dolpo region travel to another village down in a trade crossing the perilous paths and mountain pass. Such a journey transforms the common men and women into the hero and their adventure turns to the motif of a mythical journey of the hero. Thinle Karma and Pasang journey follow the pattern of departure, initiation and return- the structure of the monomyth. In this journey they realize the role each has to play in sustaining their society and, thus, perform the ordeals. They bring boon for the society from their adventure. Thus, they become the archetype of the hero of the world myths reappeared in Himalaya
