Item Figures of Speech Used in Poetry(Department of English Education, 2008) Basyal, Kamal RajThe present study entitled Figures of Speech Used in Poetry is an attempt to identify and describe the FS in the collection of poems, Generation, prescribed for grade twelve. Poetry presents particular problems for teachers and students. The students in our context realize it a difficult job to go through the language of literature, language of poetry and FS used in it. Some students even take the FS used in language and literature, specifically poetry, as something impenetrable. This study helps in clearing the way in that direction. The FS used in poetry is foregrounded. There are two devices for analysis from its point of view: FSs related to poetry and poetry related to FS. FS occur at any level of literature and poetry as well. That is to say, simile, metaphor, irony etc. are found in literature in general and poetry in specific. But the fact is that FS always occur haphazardly; the poet uses from the norms of language and literature on purpose. This study aims to describe the FS used in poetry following the two levels of literature, viz. poetic point and figurative point of view; and to suggest some pedagogical implications. The study is solely based on the secondary sources of data. In order to carry out the research, the seventeen poems prescribed in the course Generation have been collected and analyzed after observing and preparing the checklists. So, the observation and checklist are the tools for data collection. The main findings of the study are the majority of FS used in poetry. There is no definition of using FS in the poetry. And, the frequency of FS is not relevant with poetry. The study comprises four chapters along with references and appendices at the end. The first chapter deals with the general background of poetry and FS. It also contains the literature review, the objectives of the study, and the significance of the study and the definition of the terms used in the study. The second chapter deals with the methodology adopted in the study that includes the sources of data; sampling procedure; tools for data collection; process of data collection and limitations of the study. Similarly, the third chapter deals with the analysis and interpretation of data. It has been done in accordance with the FS used in the poetry and the fourth chapter comprises the findings of the study. It also suggests some pedagogical implications.Item Impact of Photovoltaic Generation in the System Stability: A Case Study with Nuwakot PV(I.O.E. Pulchowk Campus, 2022-09) Chaudhary, PravinAs innovation drives costs lower and begins to fulfill the promise of a clean energy future, renewable energy is rising. Renewable energy sources like PV and wind are taking on greater significance as a source of power as we discover more inventive and affordable ways to capture and store wind and alternative energies. Due to sunlight's accessibility, solar PV systems may be used practically anywhere in the world. Traditionally it was assumed that, the grid inertia is sufficiently high with some small variations with respect to time. But this is not valid for the power system with high Renewable Energy Sources (RES) shares composed of PV and wind generations. The increase in the generation of the inertia-less system can cause different synchronization and stability issues along with the implication over frequency dynamics. So, the size of PV system to be injected to the system should be studied. In this study, the simulation has been performed for the interconnected system encapsulating the Kathmandu valley, considering the scenario of injection of PV generation at Nuwakot. The load flow analysis before and after the placement of PV infers that the generation being placed away from the load center increases the overall network loss with minor change in the voltage at the nearby substations. The loss of the existing loss with 3.47%, with the placement of the PV at Nuwakot has increased to 3.97%. The transient analysis indicates that when the PV suddenly isolates from the INPS, the voltage of the terminal bus of Devighat substation drops down to 0.954pu from existing 1.008pu. For the higher value of generation considered, the impact on the frequency and voltage is severe however is within the limits for the case of Nuwakot PV. In case of the synchronous system, with the increase in the generation voltage, for certain generation limits, the stabilization time reduces and the transient response would be gradual. Finally, the small signal stability analysis with 0.1pu torque added in the generator at the Devighat confirms that the existing system is stable even due to the small disturbances. When the PV system was increased to 46MW capacity, the eigen value for the Mode 00046 and Mode 00047 was on the positive real axis with negative damping ratio indicating the system is unstable with some disturbances. However, the system with synchronous generator is stable at 46MW generation. This indicates that the size of inertia-less PV generation needs to be studied for the integration with the INPS and the stability with the synchronous machine is higher as compared to the PV generations.Item Narrativization of Trauma in Coetzee’s Disgrace(Faculty of English, 2011) Silwal, Shreeram PrasadJ.M. Coetzee’s Disgrace depicts legacy of apartheid as a cause of communal violence in post-apartheid South Africa. However, Coetzee, by narrativizing post-apartheid South African trauma attempts to reduce the intensity of trauma of South Africans and in the same way attempts to build the lost identity of the blacks. He, in order to shatter stereotypical understanding of people about blacks, shows gradual social and economic progress of the blacks. Similarly, he also presents the possibility of forgiveness in new South Africa which is must to establish peace and harmony between the whites and the blacks. The positive attitude of newer generation whites towards blacks marks the possibility of racial reconciliation between the whites and the blacks. Lucy, after being inhumanly raped by blacks totally forgives the black rapists unconditionally and such ethical act of newer generation people gives hope that peace and harmony will be established in the country. In the same way, the novel also offers the difficulties confronted by whites with racist attitude. The disgrace of fallen whites like Lurie, who still have problematic attitude towards the blacks shows people like him are getting a kind of the ethical obligation in post apartheid South Africa in order to transform themselves to adjust to the pace of the country.
