Item Effectiveness of Geogebra in Learning Geometry(Department of Mathematics Education, 2020) Pokharel, SitaThis study entitled “Effectiveness of GeoGebra in Learning Geometry”. The objectives of this study is to analyse the achievement of student with and without using GeoGebra in teaching geometry and to explore the perception of student towards GeoGebra in learning geometry at grade X. This study employs quasi- experimental design with constructivist approach. For this purpose two public school were selected by purposive sampling method were experimental and control groups where made homogeneous group as far as possible by selecting two similar status schools with respect to physical facilities (infrastructure) and cognitive knowledge of students. Experimental and control groups were selected through lottery method out of 60 students from Mangal secondary school and Janasewa Secondary School, Kirtipur Kathmandu. The experimental group was taught by using GeoGebra while control group was taught without using GeoGebra (traditional method) on the topic of circle and area of triangle. Pre-test and post- test were carried out simultaneously on the group using teacher made achievement test. The data was collected using achievement test and interview schedule and were analysed by inferential statistical (mean, variance, standard deviation and t-test) for quantative data while qualitative data was analysed by descriptive and thematic approach. From this study, it was found that the GeoGebra assisted teaching method was more useful to make classroom interesting, practical and live. It is recommended that teacher should incorporate GeoGebra in teaching and learning geometry.Item Effectiveness of Geogebra in Teaching Mathematics in the Virtual Learning Environment(Department of Mathematics Education, 2021) Bohara, Rupesh SinghThis study entitled “Effectiveness of GeoGebra in Teaching Mathematics in the Virtual Learning Environment.” The purpose of this study was to investigate effectiveness of GeoGebra in teaching geometry at grade X and to explore the perception of students in teaching geometry by using GeoGebra software. The effectiveness was measured by comparing achievement of the students taught by using GeoGebra software and without using GeoGebra software in virtual learning environment out of 30/30 students and perception of students was explored through 7 students' interview. The research was based on constructivist view of learning and the design of this study was quasi-experimental design. Researcher used purposive sampling and selected two schools from the Kathmandu District. For the data collection researcher used achievement test and interview through online platform. The collected data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and t-test for quantitative data and for qualitative data descriptive and analytic methods were used. The findings of this research showed that there is significant difference between the achievement of student taught by using GeoGebra software and conventional method of teaching mathematics in virtual learning environment. GeoGebra tool can increases the participation of students in teaching and learning activities. Students were very excited for learning mathematics by using GeoGebra software. GeoGebra was very useful for visualization of mathematics and supportive to the students in revision. Due to pandemic of COVID-19, teaching learning environment was changed into virtual environment. So that it was very hard to conduct online classes effectively. Again, the mathematics teaching became more complex through online plat-form. But to overcome this problem, GeoGebra software is very useful and helpful in teaching learning. The conclusion of this research is that the GeoGebra software needs to use at secondary level for meaningful and effective mathematics teaching learning in virtual learning environment.Item Students' Achievement in Trigonometry Teaching Through Geogebra(Department of Mathematics Education, 2022) Joshi, Raman RajThe topic of this study is “Students’ Achievement in Trigonometry Teaching through GeoGebra”. The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of use of Geogebra in teaching trigonometry at grade IX. In this study, pre- test post- test non- equivalent control group design of research was used which is one of the quasi- experimental research design. Connectivism has been accepted as the theoretical foundation of this research. All the students of grade IX of Ramechhap district were taken purposively as population of study. This study was conducted on two groups of students: control group and experimental group. By random sampling method the students of section „A‟ who studies optional mathematics were selected for control group and the students of section „B‟ who studies optional mathematics selected for experimental group. A total of 50 students were participated in the study in which control and experimental group consists 22 and 28 students respectively. Control group was facilitated by traditional method of instruction but experimental group was treated by GeoGebra software up to two weeks. Mathematics achievement test (MAT) and interview schedule were used to collect data. A pilot test was conducted in a group of students of Gokulganga Secondary School, Ramechhap for reliability coefficient, difficulty level and discrimination index of items. To ensure the validity of items, tool was developed being based on specification grid of optional mathematics of grade IX which was developed by CDC Nepal and with the help of supervisor. But for the reliability of items on interview schedule, students were asked the same questions repeatedly and for validation supervisor helped me. A pre- test was conducted on both groups before teaching. After quantitative analysis of pre- test, I taught both the groups up to two weeks. Moreover, control group was taught by traditional method of instruction while experimental group was facilitated by x GeoGebra software being based on connectivism approach. After treatment a post- test was administered on the same both groups using the same set of items used in pre- test. After quantitative analysis of the result of post- test an interview schedule was used on a group of five students of experiment group to know their perception towards the use of GeoGebra in teaching trigonometry. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics both. Specially, t- test was used to test for the statistical significance difference between the control and experimental group using MS Excel 2013. The data obtained from interview schedule was analyzed by descriptive method. The result of post- test showed that the average achievement of experimental group which was facilitated through GeoGebra software was better than that of control group which was taught by traditional method of instruction. Thus, analysis of this result indicated that GeoGebra was an effective software in teaching trigonometry. Also the analysis of interview result indicated that most of the students gave the positive responses towards the use of Geo Gebra software. Students of experimental group took the part in teaching learning activities actively. Also, they took Geo Gebra as an essential software in learning other parts of optional mathematics.
