Item Adaptive Failure in H.G. Wells’The Invisible Man(Department of English, 2009) Tiwari, MaheshThe Invisible Manelucidates Wells’ extraordinary power and imagination of making perfect fusion of literature with science. It excavates an individual’s struggle in the society to reach the pinnacle of success at thecost of being indifferent to its society as well as towards its surrounding. Griffin’s obsession in science that he assumes would pave the way and lead him to his destination, extends up to the extent that he even denies his responsibility towards his family. With his harsh labour, he achieves the state of ‘Invisibility’ that makes him optimistic to reach his goals. Ironically, the means for his optimism becomes the cause of his own death. Hence, the novel ends by successfully exploring the hypothesis thatthe protagonist’s failure is due to his inability to adapt in society and environment.Item Dichotomy of Irrationality and Rationality as a Device in Catch-22(Department of English, 2006) Poudel, Hari LalThe main focus of this thesis is to expose the risks and dangers constructed by the superiors during the Second World War. Moreover, it exposes how highly posted people play the game of power through discourses rejecting the lives of common individuals.Item Irrationality in both State andIts Resistance in Heller's Catch-22(Department of English, 2007) Subedi, BhabaniJoseph Heller'sCatch-22examines irrationality in between state and its resistance during Second World War for their own interests.
