Item A Study on Proficiency in Pronunciation(Department of English Education, 2010) Dahal, RupakThe present study entitled "A Study on Proficiency in Pronunciation" is anattempt to determine the proficiency of Bachelor level first year students inpronouncing the selected words and stress pattern. The researcher selectedsix campuses (eachtwo from Kathmandu, Laliptur and Bhaktapur district.viz.Mahendra RatnaCampus(Kathmandu),Kathmandu ShikshyaCampus(Kathmandu),MahangkalCampus(Lalitpur),Jana BhwanaCampus(Lalitpur), SanothimiCampus(Bhaktapur),Bhaktapur MultipleCampus(Bhaktapur)by using stratified random sampling procedure . The samplecomprised seventy two students. Data were collected by using the test item(see appendix-III). The data were analyzed using simple statistical toolslike average, percentage and descriptive approach. Despite the studentsbeing non-native speakers of the English language, the overallpronunciation ability of the students was found satisfactory. The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one encompasses generalbackground, review ofthe related literatures, objectives and significance ofthe study. Chapter two deals with methodology which was adopted for thestudy. It incorporates sources of data, sampling procedure, tools for datacollection, procedure for data collection and limitations of the study.Chapter three presents the analysis and interpretation of the collected data.In this chapter, data are analyzed and interpreted through statistical anddescriptive approach. Chapter four includes findings and recommendationswith thehelp of analysis and interpretations of data. References andappendices are included at end of the study.
