Item Analysis of the determinants of market stock price movements : An empirical study of Nepalese commercial Banks(Department of Management, 2022) Bhurtel, SaraswatiThe main objective of this study was to examine the impact of different financial indicators like EPS, DPS, BVPS and P/E ratio stock price of commercial banks in Nepal. To draw out the respective variables effects on share price movement in Nepal and find the effects of variables, this study used secondary data from different sources. The study design was descriptive and analytical research design. Convenience Sampling was used for the study. Necessary secondary data were taken from the annual reports of samples banks of this research. Mean, Standard Deviation, maximum, minimum, correlation coefficients, regression analysis were performed to analyze the secondary data of this study. The results revealed that many of the respondents still believe that there are still lots of influencing variables on share price movements, on the other hand most of cause of the movement of share price by political situation of country, earning per share, dividend distribution patterns, higher book value, share price, rules and regulations of Nepal Rastra Bank, financial aspects.. The study further shows the share price of commercial banks in Nepal is very fluctuating. It is a subject of curiosity to identify the factors affecting share price of commercial banks. The shares of commercial banks dominate the portfolio of majority of investors. So, this study examines the factors affecting share price movement of commercial banks over the period 2011/122020/21. The findings of the study over the past ten-year period revealed that earnings per share, dividend per share, book value per share and P/E ratios has the significant positive association with share price. There exists significant relationship of EPS, DPS, BVPS and P/E ratio with MPS. Key Words: Earning per share, dividend per share, book value per share, P/E ratio and market price per share.Item Factors Affecting Share Price in Insurance Companies (A study on life insurance companies of Nepal)(Department of Management, 2021) Adhikari, SirjanaThis study examines the factors affecting the share price of Nepalese life insurance companies. Market price per share is selected as dependent variable while earning per share, divided per share, price earnings ratio, dividend payout ratio, and dividend yield ratio were chosen as firm specific independent variables. The data were collected from the insurance and banking statistics and supervision report published by Nepal Rastra Bank and annual report of selected life insurance companies. The correlation and multiple regression models were estimated to test impact of firm specific factors on share price of Nepalese life insurance companies. Using data of 4 insurance companies listed in NEPSE for the period 2012/132018/19, the result shows that company's specific variables like earnings per share, divided per share, price earnings ratio, dividend payout ratio, and dividend yield ratio are the major determining stock price in context of life insurance companies in Nepal. The correlation between MPS and EPS is 0.654 which is moderate degree positive correlation, similarly MPS and DPS is 0.538, MPS and DPR is 0.225, MPS and PER is 0.486, MPS and DYR is 0.256 respectively. There is positive relationship between market price per share and other dividend variables like, earnings per share, dividend per share, dividend payout ratio, price earnings ratio and dividend yield ratio. Similarly, the value of R-square value as evident from multiple regression is 0.498 which means 49.8 % variation in Market price per share of Nepalese insurance companies is explained by the independent variables. However, the remaining 51.2 % is still unexplained in this research. In order to find out the awareness of investor towards impact of dividend on market price per share self- administrative questionnaire have been distributed among the investors. The response of respondent was positive it means investors are aware about the factors influencing market price of share. In the present study, Bivariate Correlation and a linear multiple regression models are selected to measure the effects of explanatory variables on the dependent variables. The data are collected from the annual reports of selected commercial banks, report of Nepal Rastra Bank and other official and unofficial publications. Data are analyzed by using appropriate financial and statistical tools and the descriptive research design is used. The Bivariate correlation and multiple regression analysis is use to examine the relationship between independent and dependent variable The study is based on data collected from six commercial banks listed in Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) for the period of FY 2012/13- FY 2019/20 by convenience sampling method. Calculated data has been tabulated and analyzed by using MS-Excel and SPSS. The paper investigates the relationship between earnings per share, book value per share, price earnings ratio, return on assets and size of the bank on market price of Nepalese commercial banks by using Descriptive Statistics Correlation and Regression and ANOVA test. The study concludes that book value per share, earning per share and price earnings ratio have positive significant relationship and return on assets has positive insignificant impact on market price. Size has negative relationship and is statistically insignificant with stock price of Nepalese Commercial Banks. The research analyzed of dividend policy like earning per share, dividend per share, dividend payout ratio, price earning ratio and dividend yield ratio against the market price per share which was used as impact od dividend policy on stock price of Nepalese selected commercial banks. Secondary data were collected from Nepal Rastra Bank, annual report of commercial banks, different published articles. For years from 2010/11 to 2018/19 (fiscal year). Data were analyzed by using appropriate the descriptive research design was used. The correlation and multiple regression model was used to explain the relationship and test the significance between dividends and stock price. The finding from this study indicate there is positive relationship between Market price per share on Earning per share, Dividend per share, Price earning ratio and negative relationship between Dividend payout ratio and Dividend yield ratio. There is significant correlation between Market price per share on Dividend per share, Dividend payout ratio and Price earning ratio. There was insignificant correlation between Market price per share and Earning per share as well as Market price per share and Dividend yield ratio. The recommendation that each and every firm should provide the information regarding dividend policy and its activities and performance investors can analyze the situation and invest their money in the firm. So, investors should consider for their investment decision while predicting future dividend. The Nepali market is unstable, thus there is a great need to research how factors like EPS, DPS, and PE Ratio affect stock price. Since changes take place daily, the market needs to be thoroughly researched to give investors the most recent information. This study elaborates the impact of internal factors on stock prices. This study can help management structure their dividend policies and regulate other internal factors that have some bearing on stock price. Investors can use the information from this study to tailor their investment plans. In the study, three variables are taken as independent variables: Dividend per share, Earnings per share and Price earnings ratio. Here, Market price per share is taken as the dependent variable. The descriptive and causal comparative research designs have been applied and the secondary data is used for the analysis. The data has been collected through secondary sources. The study was conducted on 10 ‘A’ level banks involving in banking activites at least for 10 years. The numbers of observations include 100 observations from 10 commercial banks collected from the fiscal year 2011/12 to 2020/21. In this study, the data was evaluated using mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variation, correlation and regression. The findings revealed that DPS, EPS and PE ratio have significant effect on the MPS. Key words: Dividend per share, Earnings per share, Price Earnings ratio and Market price per share.
