Item A Study of the Reliability of S.L.C. Question Papers(Department of English Education, 2007) Pradipt, Tirtha BahadurThis thesis attempts to find out the reliability of SLC question papers of English subject, (2063 year).In order to do so, the researcher collected the information through both primary and secondary sources of data. After obtaining primary and secondary data, they were presented exclusively in the tabular form as well as graphic form for the study. The data were analyzed in terms of different variables such as school, sex and set of questions and as a whole with the same variables and using the stastical methods of mean, co-relation analysis. At the end, findings as well as recommendations have been made. The main objectives of the study were to find out the consistency of the scores between two results, test –retest and final SLC exam .As a whole, it was found that the consistency of the score was higher in public schools than that of the private schools that lead to conclusion that, therefore SLC question paper (2063) showed high reliability in public schools than in private schools. The study is divided into four main chapters and sub chapters. Chapter one consists of general background, history of the SLC English examination system in Nepal, English Curriculum of secondary level, testing, teaching and reliability, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study and definition of the specific terms. Chapter two deals with methodology. It encompasses sources of data, population of the study, sample population, tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study. Chapter three consists of analysis, interpretation and presentation of data. It includes comparison between the performances of the students in the two examinations, test-retest and SLC Examination; It has been compared in terms of sex, question sets and schools-wise. It also includes co-relational analysis of the above mentioned data in order to find out the reliability of SLC question papers and factors influencing the results. Chapter four consists of the findings and recommendations. This chapter is followed by references and appendices.Item A Study on Application of Tests(Central Department of Education English, 2012) Devkota, ShilaThis study‘A Study on Applicationof Tests’was conducted to explore various testsapplied by thesecondary level ELT teachers ofprivate school.Fifty ELT teachers werechosen from randomly selected 35private schools ofChitwan as the informants for thedata collection. I have used bothclosed-ended and open-ended questionas a researchtools in order to collect the required information.The data were analyzed and interpretedto find out the tests applied by ELT teachers.The major finding of the research was theprivate schools ELT teacher formal and many informal testsbefore each terminalexamination.These tests help to bring positive changes to student’s learning. ELTteachers should focus on progress and achievement tests to strengthen students’ learning. This study consists of four chapters. Chapter one introduces the general background,review of related literature, objectives and significance of the study.Chapter two dealswithmethodology applied to carry out the research work. It consists ofsources of data,population of the study, sampling procedure, research tools and the limitationsof thestudy.Chapter threepresents the analysis and interpretation of the data.The final chapterdiscussesthe majorfindings, recommendations and pedagogicalimplicationsfollowed byreferences and appendices.
