Item Errors Committed By Grade Eight Students in Reported Speech(Department of English Education, 2017) Bhandari, Chhabi LalThis study was mainly concerned with the Errors Committed By Grade Eight Students In Reported Speech The main purpose of this study was to identify errors in the use of reported speech a grammatical item of English. One hundred students of four different schools of Kapilvastu district were randomly selected for the study. Then the researcher prepared two sets of test items as a tool consisting of questions. He visited the selected schools and administered the test. The errors were examined and identified by him. The study found out that most of students were weak in using correct aspect of tense in reported speech. They committed 37 errors in tense, 45 errors in persons and 51 errors in adverbials. The students committed more errors in conversion in direct speech. They made 133 total errors out of 200 problems. Similarly, there were lack of teaching materials and lack of practice. This thesis is organized into five chapters. Chapter one includes background of the study. It also consists of statement of the problem, objectives of the study, significance of the study and delimitations of the study.The second chapter deals with the review of the theoretical literature,previous studies implication of the review for the study and conceptual frame work.The third chapter deals with the design and method of the study, population, sample, and sampling strategy, data analysis and interpretation procedures. The fourth chapter deals with analysis of data and interpretation of the result and summary of findings. The fifth Chapter has conclusions and recommendation of the study. It concludes the findings and presents some pedagogical implications and recommendations at policy related level, practice related level and further related research. The final part of the thesis entails references and appendices.Item Errors Committed by Grade Nine Students on Reported Speech(Department of English Education, 2009) Shrestha, AnjaniThe present study entitled, “Errors Committed by Grade Nine Students on Reported Speech” attempts to identify and describe the errors committed by the students while doing the reported speech and to compare the errors between the students of public and private schools and find out their proficiency. The data were collected from eighty students of the private and public schools. Forty students were selected from the private schools and the other forty students were selected from the public schools of Palpa district. Simple random sampling procedure was utilized to sample the population. The major finding of the study was that the private school students were found much better in comparison to their counterparts in the public schools. The thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction consisting of deliberations on the English language, its present status, E.L.T situation and the importance of grammar. Overview of reported speech, overview of errors, review of the related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter describes the methodology which includes sources of data collection, sampling procedure, and limitations of the study. Similarly, the third chapter contains the analysis, interpretation and presentations of the data. It deals with the total proficiency and total errors committed by them. The findings and pedagogical implications of this study have been listed in the last chapter.
