Item Activities Used in Teaching Short Stories at Secondary Level(Faculty of Education, Tribhuvan University Kirtipur, 2017) Paudel, Hem RajThe present research work entitled Activities Used in Teaching Short Stories at Secondary Level is an attempt to explore the activities used by teachers in teaching short stories at the secondary level. For this, I selected thirty-five secondary level English teachers from thirty-five different schools of Taplejung district through purposive sampling procedure. The questionnaire and classroom observation schedule were used as the tools for data collection. The collected data were analyzed and interpreted statistically. After the analysis of the data, it was found that most of the teachers found the activities beneficial. Most of the teachers responded always motivated their students before starting in teaching short story. This study found that most of the teachers used pre- reading, while reading and post reading activities in teaching short story when they teach ELT classroom. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter deals with the introduction of the topic in which background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitation of the study, and operational definition of the key terms are included. The second chapter covers the review of related theoretical literature, review of related empirical literature, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework. The third chapter deals with the methods and procedures of the study which includes design of the study, population, sample and sampling strategies, data collection tools and techniques, data collection procedure and data analysis and interpretation procedure. Likewise, the fourth chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of results. It also includes analysis of data, interpretation of results and summary of the findings. The fifth chapter deals with conclusions and recommendations followed by references and appendices.Item Effectiveness of Inductive Method in Teaching Geometry at Secondary Level(Department of Mathematics Education Central Department of Education, 2016) Acharya, Umesh PrasadMathematics takes important place and usages in different ways in human life. So, it is Necessary to learn and teach in systematic way at schools level mathematics. Among various Teaching methods here, the present study concentrated on measuring the effectiveness of Inductive method in teaching geometry at secondary level. This study was based on the Following objectives are, (i) to explore the effectiveness of inductive methods in teaching Geometry at secondary level students, (ii) to compare the achievement of the students in Teaching geometry taught by inductive method with achievement of the students taught by Deductive method. For the data collection, one government school were selected purposively and pretest, Posttest, non-equivalent group experimental design was used to conduct this study. 18 students Were selected in group 'a' as a experimental group and 18 students were selected in group 'b' as A control group according as their pretest result. Experimental and control groups were assigned By tossing a coin. Two groups were taught same topic "geometry" experimental group was Taught by using inductive method and control group was taught by deductive method of teaching. After completing the experiment both groups were administered a post- mathematics Achievement test. Teaching modules and achievement test were the main intervention instrument and tools Respectively for the study and mean, standard deviation; variance and t- test (at 0.05 level of Significant) were used as statistical tools for the study. After analyzing the obtained data, it was Concluded that result of the study. Inductive method of teaching had better achievement than that Of the deductive method of teachingItem Exploring Ways for Teaching Grammar Lessons at Secondary Level(Faculty of Education Tribhuvan University Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal, 2017) Subedi, PrakashTeaching grammar is one of the aspects of language teaching. Different methods such as teaching from rules, teaching from examples, teaching through texts have been employed to teach grammar since the past. Thus, this present study entitled “Exploring Ways for Teaching Grammar lessons at Secondary Level” aimed at exploring the practice ways for grammar teaching at secondary level in terms of; teaching prepositions, articles, tense, tags, causative verbs and subject verb agreement. This research was done to explore the practice ways for each of these grammatical lessons. Both the primary and secondary sources of data were used to carry out this research. Separate tools i.e questionnaire and classroom observation checklists were used to elicit the data. The result shows that most of the teachers use inductive ways to teach grammar lessons focusing on learner- centered techniques. The findings indicated that the teachers can use and select methods on the basis of level of the learners and context and nature of the text. This study comprises altogether five chapters. The first chapter is introductory part which includes background of the study, statement of the problems, objectives of the study, research questions, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. Similarly, second chapter includes the review of theoretical and empirical literature and its implications as well as the conceptual framework. In the same way, third chapter deals with the methods and procedures of the study under which design of the study, population sample and sampling strategy, research tools, data collection procedures, data analysis and interpretation procedures as well as ethical considerations are mentioned. Likewise, chapter four comprises analysis and interpretation of results. Chapter five includes summary of findings, conclusion and recommendations. Finally, the references and appendices are included.Item Problem Faced by Teachers in Teaching Vector in Secondary Level(Department of Mathematics Education Central Department of Education, 2016) Karki, Chandra BahadurThe purpose of the study was to find the Problem faced by Teachers in Teaching Vector in Secondary Level, and to analyze causes of those problems at Ramechhap district. The descriptive survey research design was adopted to conduct the study. Fifty teachers from Ramechhap district were selected randomly for the study. The researcher made tools used in the study were survey, opinionnaire, observation form and interview. The factor for the tools consisted of three dimension statement such as content related factors, materials related factors, and class management factors. The opinionnaire consist 11 statement was distributed to secondary level teacher. After analyze data researcher found that there are various problems that cause teacher in efficient and enthusiastic to execute duty properly in the classroom. Problem related to teacher training and its transfer in classroom teaching. Most of the problem faced by teacher showed lack of moral education, lack of student participation, lack of supervision, lack of proper teaching methods, lack of Geometry knowledge, lack of vector Geometry and vector notation, operation, lack of trigonometry knowledge, lack of proper teaching methods, lack of information technology, lack of construction the teaching materials, lack of proper Mathematical lab difficult to construction the figure, lack of content competency, lack of support to mathematics subject by the administration, lack of confidence and prepare of the teacher.
