Item Perception of Teachers and Students towards the Use of Mother Tongue in Elt Classroom(Department of English Education, 2011) Karna, Dipendra LalThe thesis entitled "Perception of Teachers and Students towards the Influenceof Mother Tongue in ELT Classroom" is an attempt to find out teachers as wellas students' perception towards their mother tongue use in second languageclassroom.Icollected the data by distributing the questionnaire to altogether 80students and 10 teachers of higher secondary schools of public and private.They were from different ten (five public based and 5 private) higher secondaryschools of Dhanusha district. The data were analysed in order to find out theirperspectivestoward different options.The major findings of the study showsthat mother tongue use in ELT classroom is perceived positive by both studentsand teachers.It is recommended that teachers are required to get trainingregarding creating the English environment into the classroom. There are four chapters:the first of which deals with general background, theconcept of perception, review of related literature, objectives of the study andthe significance of the study.Thesecondchapter deals with methodology. Itincludes sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure,tools fordata collection, process of data collection and limitations of the study.Thechapter three entails analysis and interpretation of the data. It deals with theanalysis of collected data and interpretation of them by using differentstatistical tools, graphs, charts and percentage. Likewise,thefourchapterincorporates findings and recommendations.Item Teachers’ Perceptions towards the Use of Tasks Given in the Secondary Level Textbooks(Department of English Education, 2010) Basnet, Yam BahadurThe present study entitled“Teachers’PerceptionsTowardstheUseof TasksGivenintheSecondary LevelTextbooks”attemptstoexplore the teachers’perceptionstowards the use of tasks given in the textbook. To accomplish thisstudy, a set ofquestionnaire was formulated and distributed to 40 secondary levelEnglish teachers in Ilam district. Half of them were fromgovernment-aidedschoolsand rest of themwerefrom the private schools. The data collected fromthe respondentswere analyzed andinterpreted to explore theirperceptionstowardstheuse of tasks given in the textbooksat the secondary level. It was found thatteacherswere familiar with the tasks given in the textbook.The study indicatesthat teachers were familiar with the importance of task for teaching four languageskills. They also opined that teachers’trainingis necessary to make effective useof tasks in teaching English. At the same time, all of them had a common viewthat different factors like large class, untrained teachers affect in the use of tasks inthe classroom. This study consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces the study in termsof general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study,significance of the study and definitions of the specific terms. Likewise, thesecond chapter deals with the methodology applied to conduct the study. Itconsists of the sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure,research tools for data collection, process of data collection and limitations of thestudy. Similarly, the third chapter deals with analysis and interpretation of the rawdata obtained form the respondents. The data were analyzed and interpreted byusing statistical tools and presented with the help of tables etc.Finally, the chapterfour deals with the findings, recommendations and pedagogical implications ofthis study.
