Item "Study on Fish Diversity and Fishery resources of The Tinau River"(Department of Zoology, 2007) Pokharel, ShambhuThe present study entitled-"Study on Fish Diversity and FisheryResources of the Tinau River" deals with the present status of fishdiversity, distribution pattern, socio-economic condition of fishermen,effect of dam on fisheries and fishing implements using around the Tinauriver. The present study reports a total of 32 fish species belonging tofour orders viz. Cypriniformes, Siluriformes, Perciformes andSynbranchiformes. They belong to 11 families and 24 genera. Fisheswere collected seasonally. Commonly found species inTinau river arePuntius sps.,Barilius sps.,Schistura sps. andLepidocephalus sps. Thephysicochemical parameters of river shows different habitats. The fishpopulation in the river is decreasing due to dam construction and illegalfishing. The socio-economic status of fisherman is very poor. About 65%of fisherman were illiterate, however they have intension to educate theirchildren. Both conventional as well as non-conventional fishingimplements were found to be used in and around the Tinau river.
