Item Bachelor Degree Students' Proficiency in Writing Persuasive Essays(Faculty of english education, 2018) Bhandari, AratiThis present study attempted to find out Bachelor Degree students' proficiency in writing persuasive essays. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher used both primary and secondary sources of data. The researcher purposively selected 66students' from five colleges of different location of the Bharatpur Metropolitan City.Similarly, the researcher also took help of the books, articles and journals related to essay writing materials. The main tools of data collection consisted of test item that contained only one essay writing question.This study found out that the Bachelor Level students did not use essay elements like hook, thesis statement, background information,outline,topic sentence, explanation, example, conclusion, message, prediction or recommendation etc. in writing persuasive essays. The research study has been organized in five chapters. The first chapter deals with general background, statement of the problems, objectives, research question, significance of the study, delimitations of the study. The second chapter comprises the review of theoretical literature, empirical literature implication of the review for study and conceptual framework. Similarly,research methodology, study design, data analysis and interpretation procedures etc. are discussed in the third chapter. The fourth chapter includes analysis of data and interpretation of the results and summary of findings. In the last chapter, conclusion and recommendation for different groups a represented. The concluding chapter is followed by the references and appendices that list the sources and tools used in doing the thesis.Item Proficiency of Grade Six Students Inguided Writing(Faculty of education, 2008) Kumar, NirajanThis study attempts to identify and explain the English languagewriting proficiency of grade six students in guided writing of Parsadistrict. For this study, 100 students of class six of Parsa district, 20students, both boys andgirls, were randomly selected from each fiveselected school. In order to collect relevant data, a set of test items wasadministered to the students. The datas were analyzed and findings weredetermined. The research proved that the writing skill of boys was found betterthan that of girl students. Students obtained more marks in parallelwriting than other types of guided writing. The writing proficiency of thestudents of Radha Krishna Chaurasiya Secondary School was foundbetter than the students of other four selected schools. Chapter one presents the general background of the study, dealingwith writing, importance of writing, characteristics of writing states ofwriting, review of related literature objectives and significance of thestudy. Chapter two deals with the methodology adopted in the study thatdeals with the sources of data, population of the study, sample population,tools of data collection and limitations of study. Chapter three deals with the analysis and interpretation of the data such as item-wise analysis, school-wise analysis and gender-wise analysis. Chapter four deals with the findings and recommendations of the study. Final part of thesis entails bibliography and appendices.Item A Study on The Proficiency of Grade VIII Students in The Use of Articles(Department of English Education, 2008) Paudel, RajendraThe main purpose of this study is to find out the proficiency of the Eighth Graders of Parbat district in the use of articles by comparing different variables in terms of area and gender. This study differs from the other previous studies in its sample population, area of the study, statistical tools applied and findings. For collecting data, the researcher took one hundred twenty students studying in Grade Eight from ten secondary and higher secondary schools (five from rural area and five from urban area) of Parbat district. Twelve Eighth Graders in equal sex ratio were randomly selected from each selected school and administered the test item to them. The study found that the average score of eighth graders of Parbat district in articles is 35.94. Majority of them (59.16 Percent) were above the average score. Students of urban area schools were found to be more proficient than those of students from rural areas schools by 65%. In terms of sex, boys were more proficient by 16.67 percent than girls. The study has been presented in four chapters: introduction, methodology, analysis and interpretation, findings and recommendations. The first chapter deals with general background, articles in English review of related literature, objectives of the study significance of the study and definition of terms. The second chapter deals with methodology, sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, tools for collecting data, process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter consists of item wise analysis and status of proficiency in using articles by the Eighth graders of Parbat district, comparison of different variables with the average of each item, analysis and interpretation of total proficiency of the students, comparison of total proficiency by type of school and sex. School wise comparison of proficiency of total (ten) schools with average score and comparison of proficiency with lower secondary level norm. The fourth chapter presents the findings obtained from analysis and interpretation of the data and some recommendations on the basis of the findings. In the final section of the study references and appendices are included.
