Abstract: This thesis entitled "Pronominal in English and Magar" endeavors to compare and contrast pronominal systems of the English and Magar languages. The researcher collected data from both primary and secondary sources. The primary sources of the data were 45 Magar native speakers who were equally divided into three strata; educated, literate and illiterate using the stratified random sampling procedure from Itahari Municipality of Sunsari district and the secondary sources of data were different books, journals and theses. A interview questionnaire was used as a research tool for data collection. With the help of analysis and interpretation of data provided by informants, findings were derived. Magar has more number of pronouns in comparison to English. Personal, reflexive and possessive pronouns are divided under three categories: first, second and third person in both languages. Magar has the existence of honorific and non-honorific pronouns for the second person personal reflexive and possessive pronouns which do not exist in the English language. Magar has more number of second person personal pronouns than English. English third person singular personal possessive and reflexive pronouns are used distinctively for male and female but Magar has no separate pronouns for male and female. Magar has different relative pronouns for singular and plural whereas in English the same form is used for both singular and plural. The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one is the introductory part which encompasses general background, review of related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study, and definition of specific terms. Chapter two deals with methodology. It encompasses sources of data, sampling procedure, research tools, process of data collection, and limitation of the study. Chapter three is very important which includes the analysis and interpretation of data. Chapter four incorporates findings, recommendations and pedagogical implications of the study.
