Abstract: The present thesis entitled ‘Effectiveness of Pair Work in Writing Skill’aims to find out the effectiveness of pair work in free writing skill. In order to find out the effectiveness of pair work in it, the researcher selected Shree Janata Higher Secondary School Paink, Jajarkot as a working field. Only twenty students were selected randomly out of the total students from class ten of that school.And then, the selected students were divided into two sections: non-pair section and pair section using lottery. The non-pair section was taught using the usual teaching methods and techniques (i.e.Grammar translation Method, etc)but, on the other hand,pair section was taught using pair work activity. The five relevant test items were used to measure the progression of the respondents. The pre-test was conducted before dividing the section but the post test was administered after teaching twenty lessons to both sections using the similar test items. Then the scores of both tests were analyzed using same statistical tools and found out that in total average marks, PS has made more progression than NPS. The study is divided into four main chapters and other sub-topics. The first chapter deals with the introduction of English language, history of ELT, importance of it, review of related literature, objectives of the study and significance of the study. The second chapter describes the methodology used to carry out the research work. Twenty students were selected for collecting primary data. The third chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of the data. The fourth chapter deals with the findings of the study. Finally, some recommendations are made on the basis of the findings of the study
