Abstract: This thesis entitled Adjectives and Intensifiers in Tharu and English was carried out with the aim to find out the adjectives and intensifiers in Tharu language of Bara district and compare their similarities and differences with English language.I used simple random sampling procedure and selected 80Tharu speaking students from five secondary schools of Bara district. I used two sets of questionnaire consisting of translation items to collect the data. The major finding of this research was that the native speakers of Tharu use adjectives and intensifiers differently depending upon contexts than those in English. It is recommended that the native speakers of Tharu language should be paid special focus on the use of different alternative forms of adjectives and intensifiers in their language. This study consists of four chapters. The first chapter deals with general background, review of related literature, objectives and significance of the study. The second chapter consists methodology, which deals with sources of data, sampling procedure, research tools, process of data collection and limitations of the study. The third chapter comprises the analysis and interpretation of the data obtained from the field. The last, fourth chapter presents the findings and recommendations followed by references and appendices.
