Abstract: The present study entitled “Communication strategies adopted by B.Ed level teachers and students” attempted to investigate the types of communication strategies adopted by B.Ed level teachers and students in Kathmandu district.To accomplish this study, a set of questionnaire was formulated and distributed to 30 students and classes of five teachers were observed. The data collected from the respondents were analyzed and interpreted to explore the types of communication strategies used by them. The overall findings of the study present that the majority of the teachers use communication strategies to enhance the productive skills of the students and both the teachers and the students used twenty two different communication strategies i.e. asking,guessing, simplification, synonym, antonym, definition, paraphrase, description,exemplification, translation, language switch, gesture, substitution, repetition,explanation,foreignization, mime, word coinage, code switch, topic avoidance,circumlocution, generalization. This study consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces the study in terms of general background, review of the related literature, objectives of the study, significance of the study and the definition of the specific terms.Likewise, the second chapter deals with the methodology applied to conduct the study. It consists of the sources of data, population of the study, sampling procedure, and research tools for data collection, process of data collection,limitations of the study and procedure of data analysis. Similarly, the third chapter deals with analysis and interpretation of the raw data obtained from respondents. The data were analyzed and interpreted by using statistical tools and presented with the help of tables etc. Finally the fourth chapter deals with the findings, recommendations and pedagogical implications of this study.
