dc.description.abstractThis research work entitled Techniques used by IELTS Instructors while Teaching Writing Skills an attempt to analyze and describe the various techniques used by the IELTS instructors while teaching writing skill. In this study, I explored techniques for teaching skills in IELTS class specially the writing one, which are merely suggestive to the instructors, learners, as wellasany concerned personalities of IELTS forthe language proficiency and skill development.The study was based on the descriptive and narrative analysis of the information obtained fromnon-randomly selected sample population. I collected the data from 10 IELTS instructors from 10 different institutes of Kathmandu valley. The required data were collected by using questionnaire for instructors.The finding of this research showed that the techniques used while teaching writing skill in IELTS were different from instructor to the instructor even though in some condition they followed a symmetrical path of instructing,which are standard techniques of teaching. This study consists of four chapters. Chapter one provides theoretical input for writing skill especially in IELTS.This chapter deals with general background and development history of IELTS and prevailing techniques of teaching writing skills as well as contemporary issues related to the techniques which have been used while instructing. Chapter two deals with the research methodology adopted for the study in which sources of data, sampling procedures, tools for data collection, processes of data collection and limitations of the study are included. Likewise, the third chapter deals with descriptive and narrative analysis of ten instructors responses on techniques used by them while teaching writing skill in IELTS and the data from focus group was analyzed. This chapter focuses on empirical evidences on techniques attempt to deliver writing skills in IELTS class. The fourth chapter deals with the research findings and recommendations based on the analysis and interpretation of the data. This chapter is followed by references and appendices.en_US
