dc.description.abstractThis research work entitled Current Issues in Teacher Induction of English Language Teachers is an attempt to find out the current issues, nature and types of teacher induction in Nepalese context, to explore the challenges faced by newly appointed English teachers at higher secondary level and the strategies adopted by them to overcome classroom challenges. Ten respondents for the research were selected by using purposive non-random sampling procedure. The primary data were collected from ten NAETs working at higher secondary level in Jhapa district. Interview and classroom observation was used as data collection tools.The collected data from the respondents and observation details were analyzed and interpreted descriptively. The major findings of this study were that teacher induction program is not formally implemented in Nepal though it is emerging concept in teacher education and it is needed for NATs. The nature of teacher induction program is supportive, interactive and collaborative. The NAETs inNepal were found facing different problems due to the lack of teacher induction.However, they were applying themselves different strategies to overcome the challenges that they were facing in their induction period. This thesis has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with general background of the study, statement of the problem, rationale of the study,objectives of the study, significance of the study, delimitations of the study and operational definition of the key terms. Similarly, the second chapter consists of the review of the theoretical literature, review of empirical research, implications of the review for the study and conceptual framework for the study. The third chapter deals with the methodological aspect under which design of the study, area of the study, sampling procedures, data collection tools, data collection procedure and data analysis and interpretation procedure have been included. The fourth chapter focuses on the results and discussions. And the fifth chapter of the study consists of summary, conclusions and implications of the study in policy making level and practice level with some directions for the further research.en_US
